Where to park, what you will find when you arrive, and which access point fits the kind of water day you have in mind.
Parking rules changed July 1, 2026. Rates and restrictions can change, so use the official links below before leaving for the day.
Non-residents: $2/hour north of Beach Boulevard and $3/hour south of Beach Boulevard. The city also lists $4/hour overnight from 11 p.m.–6 a.m., but parking is prohibited after 2 a.m. on City right-of-way/public property and at Lagoon Pass Park.
Payment: Gulf Shores uses ParkMobile exclusively for paid public parking. There are no payment kiosks. Posted QR codes are only for downloading or opening the ParkMobile app.
2026 rate: $15 all day for a personal vehicle and $35 all day for a vehicle with a trailer, bus or large RV at designated locations. Overnight parking is prohibited at State Park beach-access lots.
Orange Beach accesses: Romar Beach, Cotton Bayou, Alabama Point East and Shell Beach.
For full facilities, choose Gulf Place, Lagoon Pass or the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion. For paddling and calmer water, look at Lake Shelby or Little Lagoon. For a casual sand-and-water stop with food, Pirate's Cove is a very different kind of beach day.
The City currently lists eight public beach access locations. Amenities vary substantially, so the closest access is not always the best one for your group.
The central Gulf Shores beach access and the most full-service choice. Expect the largest concentration of beach facilities and easy access to the Highway 59 beach district.
Features: Bathhouse/restrooms, rinse showers, pavilions, seasonal lifeguard coverage and beach-access mats. The City currently has three access mats at Gulf Place and another at East Gulf Place.
Parking: Paid city parking for visitors; East Gulf Place parking remains resident-only.
A particularly useful family stop because the park sits directly on Little Lagoon Pass while Gulf beach access is across West Beach Boulevard.
Features: Public parking, restrooms and outdoor showers on the north side; access to the pass/lagoon plus Gulf beach across the road.
Parking: Paid city parking. No parking after 2 a.m.
A good alternative to the main public beach when you want a straightforward West Beach access.
Features: Dune overwalk, rinse shower and bathhouse. Improvements added paved parking, an ADA space and an accessible route/boardwalk connection.
Parking: Designated paid City parking.
Two useful West Beach options with more infrastructure than a simple pedestrian crossover.
West 10th: Dune overwalk, restrooms/bathhouse and rinse shower.
West 13th: Dune overwalk, rinse shower, restrooms and seasonal lifeguard coverage.
Parking: Designated paid City parking.
These are smaller neighborhood-style access choices rather than destination beach facilities.
West 4th: Pedestrian beach access.
West 5th: Dune overwalk, rinse shower and designated paid parking.
West 12th: Dune overwalk, rinse shower and limited streetside parking.
A strong choice for a planned beach day when restrooms, showers and picnic facilities matter more than being in the center of Gulf Shores.
Features: Climate-controlled bathrooms with showers, accessible ramps, picnic tables and a seasonal concession stand.
Parking: State Park paid beach parking.
For paddling, fishing, picnics or a calmer-water day away from Gulf surf.
One of the most versatile non-Gulf water stops in the area.
Features: Designated swimming area, boat launch, kayak launch, canoe/kayak/paddleboard rentals, playground, picnic tables, charcoal grills, restrooms and two covered pavilions. Lakeview Trail and the park trail network are nearby.
Know before you go: Jet skis/waverunners are not allowed. Gulf State Park warns that alligators and other wildlife are present.
A practical north-shore Little Lagoon launch for boaters and paddlers.
Features: Two concrete boat ramps, parking for vehicles and boat trailers, public restrooms and kayak/canoe access. The restroom deck overlooks the lagoon, and a paved bike/walking trail runs nearby along Fort Morgan Road.
Best for: Launching a boat, kayak or canoe rather than setting up for a traditional Gulf beach day.
These Gulf State Park access points are useful when your day takes you east toward Orange Beach and Perdido Pass.
Convenient public Gulf access along Perdido Beach Boulevard. Cotton Bayou is one of the larger and more recognizable Orange Beach public-beach lots; Romar provides another State Park access farther west.

Good choices when you want to be near Perdido Pass, broad sand and the eastern end of Orange Beach.

Not a public Gulf beach access — but absolutely worth including in a water-access guide.
A longtime, laid-back waterfront beach bar on Arnica Bay. It is reachable by car or boat and has a sandy beach area where people hang out by the water.
Features: Sandy waterfront, covered deck, small indoor area, marina/boat access, cheeseburgers, weekend wood-fired pizza, live music on many weekends, and a casual family- and dog-friendly atmosphere.
Parking: Drive-in parking is available on site; this is a restaurant/marina destination rather than municipal public beach parking.
